Occupational Therapy

Start Living Independently Again

A serious injury can make it difficult to perform activities you used to do on a daily basis. Occupational therapy at Kinisi Institute is a personalized recovery program designed to help you resume your daily activities. Our occupational therapy team has broad experience working with patients of all ages and various types of injuries.

The Kinisi occupational therapy team can treat many conditions including:

  • Conditions of the elbow, wrist and hand
  • Decreased ability to complete work, self-care, leisure and homemaking activities
  • Weakness, issues with coordination, hypersensitivity and decreased sensation
  • Limitations in fine and gross motor skills
  • Decreased memory, safety awareness, problem solving and organization
  • Decreased or changes in vision

While physical therapy is focused on your recovery as a whole, occupational therapy is more concerned with helping you enjoy your regular activities once again. Every patient has different goals. While one person may need help getting back finger strength, another may be working towards being able to lift themselves off the ground without assistance. We can help you find ways to adapt.

Pediatric Occupational Therapy

Many people may think occupational therapy is just for adults, but these programs can also be designed for adolescents and children. In pediatric occupational therapy, we focus on helping kids recover from their injuries so they can learn and play again. We work with children to develop skills that will improve their play, ability to socialize, self-care routines, and activities at home and school.

The many conditions our pediatric occupational therapy team can treat include:

  • Decreased ability to complete self-care, school and daily routines
  • Weakness, issues with coordination and hypersensitivity
  • Limitations in fine and gross motor skills
  • Sensory processing and self-regulation
  • Decreased attention and organization
  • Decreased or changes in vision

Our occupational therapy team includes experts in child development who work closely with individual children and their families. Their goal is to help every child meet physical, mental, and behavioral developmental milestones.
